Earlier today, a screenshot has emerged, claiming to be a re-design of Gmail:

According to various sources, the leak is directly from google employees – so their is a good chance the next version of Gmail could look similar to this image.

Notable changes include:

• More emphasis on placing ‘Mail’, ‘Contacts’ and ‘Tasks’ top left
• ‘Compose Mail’ has been changed from a text link to a button, and moves below ‘Mail’, ‘Contacts’ and ‘Tasks’
• No links to actions such as “Select All” or “Select None”
• Drop down box next to the email address along top bar (Gmail account switcher?)
• In the chat box, note the ‘call phone’ button – Google Voice intergration?

All in all, it looks like the next version of Gmail will be something special.

I recently switched all the business email accounts to run on Gmail apps for business (which i strongly recommend) so i’m pretty excited by the next release!
